Description

There are a number of types of Cedar growing in the United States, several of which are used for indoor purposes. However, for Cedar used in fencingand OUTdoor purposes there is only ONE type of cedar that will last a lifetime, Mountain Heart (Juniperus Mexicana). Customers can be misled by companies selling Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) as a good choice for outdoor uses, when in reality; this is the POOREST choice in wood to use for ANY outdoor purpose. The indoor cedar (Eastern Red Cedar) is known to carry a large sap ring, which allows the cedar to rot at a much faster pace. As opposed to the outdoor cedar (Mountain Heart), has a much smaller or almost nonexistent sap ring, which allows for a lifetime of endurance, durability, and quality. Mountain Heart Cedar has been coveted in Texas for outdoor uses since the use of cedar began.
